Locking the computer to the login screen?

    Hello there

When you boot up Ubuntu, you get this pretty login screen that actually looks quite nice, with the guest login option and all that. Is there a way to lock the computer so you get this screen, instead of the ugly boring one that appears when you just lock it? This might be an insanely dumb question, but i dont know

    Thank you!

Only by logging out, as far as I know. But that means stopping all your programs of course.

The lock screen looks a little prettier if you change you the desktop background. Juat right click the desktop, and click, "Change Desktop Background." When you lock the screen you'll still see the same desktop background that you have set for your User Account. For example, I have some clouds set up for my background. Its give a nice blue color to my screen, which is in fact my favorite color.

There is no such thing as dumb questions, just dumb answers. Remember that.

OH! thank you guys I will try that background trick.

Is it possible to make the grey dull password box abit prettier? Make it transparent or something?
