lubuntu 13.04 has audio n video codecs

so Ubuntu comes with restricted codecs installed by default..... I just installed it and was able to play n watch videos out of the box

yes I am sure ..... its not Ubuntu but lubuntu it has all media plugins like mp3 wma wav avi etc I downloaded it yesterday from d official Ubuntu image side

Are you sure that you didn't tick "Install 3rd party software" during install... ?

lubuntu comes with audacious/audacious plugins default installed which pulls in the deps of the plugins inc. shared libav libraires such as libavcodec, ect.
