Re: How to move the Launcher
Not everyone knows what you mean by "circle of friends".
Click on the little wheel/cog next to the word "password" on the login screen, you can choose the desktop.
The Unity launcher is meant to be on the left as it's a better use of horizontal screen space on widescreen monitors. Just because you can't change it, doesn't mean that Unity is bad or ill-featured; if it was able to be put on the bottom, lots of people would do that and completely waste the thought behind the design. Also, it would look too much like OS X; bystanders would think "That Ubuntu thing just looks like a ripoff of Mac OS X with that dock thing on the bottom of the screen".
You can also set the Launcher to auto-hide, which is how I have it. It pops up again when you push the mouse against the left side of the screen.
However, use whichever desktop you want. It's a shame when people diss an entire desktop shell just because you can't put the launcher on the bottom.
I try to treat the cause, not the symptom. I avoid the terminal in instructions, unless it's easier or necessary. My instructions will work within the Ubuntu system, instead of breaking or subverting it. Those are the three guarantees to the helpee.
