Ubuntu Novice looking to get hard into security.

Hey guys. I just installed ubuntu on my computer and would like some help. I have a general idea of command line, but would like to apply it to stuff to get a better understanding. I guess the closest thing I can think of is like "ubuntu exercises"? I am minoring in security and I know linux is a large part of security. However, the minor mainly covers the theory of security, not the hands on work regarding security I would like to be doing. So, if you guys could point me into the right directions as to where I can find real world, "practice exercises" regarding linux and security that would be awesome!!!

    Thanks,
    Alex
