    Slim optical drive SATA

    I need a new slim optical drive,mine quit, I need to get it from amazon because that is where I have credit. Any semi cheap recommendations? $50 is my limit.

    I assume you're talking about USB external? I bought a 'generic' optical drive from Amazon and it did not work with Brasero - didn't know about k3b at the time. I returned it and bought a Samsung SE-S084D/TSBS. I only see that model drive used and for $69. I paid $39. The Samsung has been very good, works with Brasero and k3b. Optical drives are pretty mature technology so I suspect any drive from a reputable manufacturer that has a good number of positive reviews should be fine. Reviews mentioning linux are a +.
