Pop is popular fun music, "electro" is something different.

Rock 'n' roll is the music the kids listened to in the late 1950s and early 1960s.

Anyway, to answer the question: I found that the Legend of Zelda 25th Anniversary CD helps me concentrate quite well, and so does Solomon Islands panpipe music. The Narasirato Pan Pipers or the Wasi Ka Nanara Pan Pipers.

Other types of world music are quite good too; Andean and Spanish music are a good option and it's easy to find $5 CDs in the bargain bin.

Vocals in a language you understand will probably hinder your concentration.
I try to treat the cause, not the symptom. I avoid the terminal in instructions, unless it's easier or necessary. My instructions will work within the Ubuntu system, instead of breaking or subverting it. Those are the three guarantees to the helpee.

Porn video soundtrack.I try to finish what i'm doing to coincide with end of the track-then I go and have a smoke!

Seriously, ambient music by the likes of Steve Roach or Klaus Schultze or Pete Namlook (R.I.P.). Sometimes Kammarheit or Svartsinn set the scene for me.

Any soft and relaxed music. Boards of Canada, Norah Jones, smooth jazz, old and mellow jazz tracks, chillout, lounge, etc.

Re: What sort of Music lets you concentrate better?

To be really honest it depends on what I'm concentrating on.

Earlier today it took this to be able to concentrate, later this worked, towards the evening this did the trick , at 2am it took this and then when the day had to start I needed a bunch of this .

You might'nt find that - that's entirely expected as well.

I'm one of those "the quieter the better" people. I love listening to Bach, Mozart, Beethoven and various other "classical" composers, but I end up listening to them rather than focusing on something else I might be trying to do e.g. writing.

I used to be able to listen to hard rock blaring while I did my homework, as I got older quieter music like classical is best

Depends what you mean by "concentrate". I like to listen to music (mostly electronic) while driving, but driving is mostly autopilot anyway. If I'm reading or working on something I want to concentrate on then it's got to be silence to get that real laser-like focus. Any kind of external input is just going to be distracting, even if it's just on a subconscious level.
