Which of my laptops is better for gaming?

I haven't played a game in a decade so I am completely ignorant about video cards and the like.

I thought that the GeForce one would be faster, but when playing Bastion, the Intel one performs much better. I wonder if this is because I am using the wrong driver for the GeForce though. Here are the details of the two laptops. Any thoughts?

    Hi Ximaceo,

Thanks for summarizing (I wasn't sure what the important parts were, although I should have gotten rid of the empty fields)

Yes, it is true that the System 76 Pangolin has an HDD. I don't think there was an option for SSD when I bought it 4 years ago. I have a panp5 (that's the laptop version).

That intel 4000 is actually quiet good, for being an integrated GPU.
I would in fact not be surprised it surpasses some lower-end dedicated notebook cards

For gaming build yourself a desktop, too many compromises with a laptop...
You think that's air you're breathing now?

Yeah I wish I had that option. My work requires me to be constantly traveling.

I've had great success with the Intel integrated graphics all around. At this point with Haswell just around the corner, I have no plans to ever buy proprietary graphics again, especially considering their lousy linux support.

The only thing the System76 machine offers is the graphics. But in combination with all the other enhancements of the ZaReason, that's what I would use to game on. you should be fine as long as you're not running Crysis or something.

Good to know. Wikipedia says (when comparing Haswell to Ivy Bridge) "Up to double the performance of the integrated GPU." Cool!

    Thanks for the advice!

I'd say the System76.... the i7 with discrete graphics will come in handy for games.

I agree, and the Nvidia drivers are far better than the Intel drivers on Linux, particularly in regards to gaming
