graphics problem and linux kernel 3.8.*

I installed Ubuntu studio 13.04 beta on my media pc. The live DVD was fine in terms of the Display, however when installed all I got was an 800x600 display and no option to increase it was listed.

PC is on a Gigabyte ga-k8n with Athlon x2 and an Nvidia 7600 GS (sorry Linus!)

I also tried updating the kernel to 3.8.2 on my main PC (Mint14)and ended up with same result, thank goodness for fallback kernels!
    Gigabyte m720-us3 with Nvidia GT250.

I have Prayed to Google but so far no Blessings. Anyone able to shine a light or show me the path to tread?

Re: graphics problem and linux kernel 3.8.*

I just installed and had to had to try different Nvidia drivers as I did with 12.10 Beta. I found the 3.10 driver to works well with my 8 series card. The driver I was using with 12.10 caused my resolution be different and everything was extra large ?

Thanks for that Frogs Hair I'll give it a go again. I should also mention that I tried the install on my old Acer aspire 5315 Laptop and it runs beautifully.
