So use the dash, start typing "transmission" and it should show in the results.
Once running you can right click on the icon in the launcher and select "Lock to launcher".
Code-tags --- Boot-Repair --- Grub2 wiki & Grub2 Basics --- RootSudo --- Wireless-Info --- SolvedThreads --- System-Info-Script
Otherwise just open a terminal:
$ transmission-gtk
If it isn't installed
$sudo apt-get install transmission
No, it is installed, and it is currently open but it isn't displayed in the dock/launcher. There is nothing for me to click on to pin it to the launcher. It's open, I'm looking at it, but it has no icon over there. So I have to minimize everything else to get to it.
Sorry I don't use Unity so can't help you there
You can also drag it from the DASH to the LAUNCHER.
It might not be exactly what you are after but Transmission does have an option 'Show Transmission icon in the Notification area' which might be a little helpful. This can be seen in Edit --> Preferences --> Desktop.
You think that's air you're breathing now?
Ah thanks. Dragging it from the Dash to the Launcher made it so it has an icon in the launcher now. That was real weird. =P
