    12.04 not installing on panp5?

I have an old panp5 that I haven't used for a while. It is currently running 10.04, and I'd like to revive it by installing 12.04. I tried installing from a 12.04.1 disc, but that disc seemed to run forever with a blank screen. Are there any particular issues I should be aware of in trying to revive this old machine?

PS I hadn't touched the machine in about two years. I'm using it as a backup machine for a little while, but I quickly remembered how much I love this computer. It is probably my favorite computer I have ever owned.

Re: 12.04 not installing on panp5?

When I rolled back to 12.04 I had some issues with the graphics driver. I fixed this by booting the install cd with the "nomodeset" option enabled. This helped me avoid any kind of blinking cursor/infiinte black screen , until I was able to install the propriertary drivers. Here is a link that outlines how to go about, hope this works for you.

I think I have a panp5 and I had no issues installing Ubuntu 12.04 as far as I can recall.
