Access localhost from other PC

How to access the files of one PC from other PC through localhost using Ethernet Cable?
Please guide me.

If you are not on a LAN (no router, not switch), you have s options:

• Use a ethernet crossover cable, or
• If they both have wireless cards, you could create an ad hoc network connection.

One of the first things stated in the Wikipedia article on ethernet crossover cables is that they are no longer necessary, plain cable woirk just as well

I bought a cable. Then how should i proceed to next level? Settings please?

Connect the cables, turn on the PCs, and then assigned them static IPs.

Here's an example: How to Set Up Ubuntu With a Crossover Cable. It should work on a regular cable too.
