new install 8.04 dual boot with winxp failed to boot

HI Friends, I just installed heron 8.04 cd to dual boot with winxp to a succesful download, and after the ubuntu logo starts up,then the screen goes dark and all shuts off. MY windows side boots up, but not ubuntu, what happened? I appreciate anyones help on this. Thank you all.

Dude, 8.04 has been dead for years. you HAVE to use 12.04 at least. What PC is it by the way? Specs please.

actually 8.04 is not dead yet. it is still supported (the server, buit not the desktop components) until April this year.

but still it is an OS from 2008 with drivers that were available at the time. OP really should use 2012 version at least (12.04 LTS or 12.10).
