    Ubuntu not on Grub bootloader

    Hi,

    I'm new to ubuntu and have been having what seems to be a common problem, only the common fixes aren't working.

    I've installed ubuntu alongside windows 7 from a flash drive, but ubuntu isn't appearing on the grub2 bootloader screen.
    EDIT: Ubuntu amd64 12.04 on a Dell inspiron 560 desktop

    From the CD boot, I've tried:

    Code:
    Sudo mount /dev/sda6 /mnt
    sudo grub-install --boot-directory=/mnt/boot /dev/sda
     --> reboot
    sudo update-grup
    When I try to update, I get the error

    Code:
    /usr/sbin/grub-probe: error: cannot find a device for / (is /dev mounted?).
    I've also tried apt-get update and booting from a cd with grub boot disk 2. When booted with grub disk 2 it only recognises the windows bootloader. I've also tried a re-install.

    Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    Re: Ubuntu not on Grub bootloader

    Don't worry, fixed.

    For anyone who experiences the same problem, the solution is boot repair!

    Code:

    sudo add-apt-repository ppa:yannubuntu/boot-repair && sudo apt-get update
