How to install BCM5753M driver / Ubuntu 12.04

I (The Newbie) have a network problem (as mentioned in another thread) with my HP9420 laptop that just been blessed with a Ubuntu 12.04 installation. (It used to have be a Win7 Ultimate laptop - where the LAN worked fine)
The Wireless connection works fine - but I just cant figure out how to get the wired connection up and running.
The NIC is Broadcom NetXtreme Gigabit Ethernet PCI Express = BCM5753M.

How does the stupid Dane solve this???

Cheers - and thanks in advance!

    Run

    Code:
    ifconfig -a
and paste the output here. That will show all the network connections detected by the computer.

    Hi,

load the driver by hand, it is already part of the kernel:

    Code:
    sudo modprobe b44

No, restart the network with plugged cable:
    Code:
    sudo service network-manager restart
    Check:
    Code:
    ifconfig -a
    cat /etc/network/interfaces
    cat /etc/resolv.conf
    route -n
    lsmod
lspci -nnk | grep -iA2 net

There is no wired card shown...Please show
    Code:
    lspci -nnk
completely. There is also a Broadcom wireless driver loaded for an Intel device?!
    Code:
    sudo modprobe -rfv wl
    sudo modprobe -rfv iwl3945
    sudo modprobe -v iwl3945
    sudo apt-get remove --purge bcmwl-kernel-source
    sudo depmod -a
    sudo update-initramfs -u
