    change default kernel

i have several mainline kernels installed as well as the 3.8.0-X kernel is there a way i can set the 3.6.11-030611-generic as default in grub and not have to change grub.cfg file ever time it updates

3.6.11-030611-generic is the newest kernel that works with my backlight
