Red face PS/2 Synaptics TouchPad scroll not working

Hi! I am posting this thread to have an enlightenment.

I've got Aspire One D255 netbook and is running in Ubuntu 12.04... Perfectly for a few months now. Until lately, my touch pad stopped working: it completely went untouchable - no scroll, no activity during touch. I then stumbled upon the touchpad-indicator while searching the web and luckily i got the touchpad working but it did not solve the scrolling problem. In settings (just when this problem started to occur) , I find no TouchPad tab as most people look for firsthand in dealing with the situation.

I've read threads whereby the touch pad is "recognized" by the system as generic mouse but when I run xinput list in the terminal, I get these:

Virtual core pointer id=2 [master pointer (3)]
⎜ ↳ Virtual core XTEST pointer id=4 [slave pointer (2)]
    ⎜ ↳ PS/2 Synaptics TouchPad

So, the touchpad isn't recognized as a mouse. With so many things around the net, I can't come up with the right solution just yet.

This is the first problem I got since Ubuntu installation so you could say I'm way amateur than amateur about Ubuntu.
