    disk space after emptying trash

I didnt screen capture it when it happened, and wish I had.
The other day I deleted numerous files form my hard drive. before I deleted them, I ran the command
    df -h
after deleting them, I ran df -h again, and had 2.3 GB more used space. I was curious about that. Anyone know whats up?
I used the gnome applet to "Empty trash"

Have you checked if ~/.local/share/Trash is emptied?
