    Installed Lubuntu... fun suggestions

    Hello everyone!

After staying up all night I finally was able to get the wifi card working with Lubuntu thanks to this forum and some of its members. Now I'm left wondering what might be some fun things for a linux noob to do/install right off the rip? Any suggestions welcomed-- applications, tutorials/resources, customizations, ui's, utilities-- just remember: they must be noob friendly!

also planning on installing xubuntu, kubuntu, mint, puppy and some others, just to get a feel. any non-ubuntu distros you ubuntu fans would recommend? Let the fun begin...

Install xcompmgr. It gives you basic graphics acceleration like window shadows and simple transparencies on your desktop and is lightweight. Archwiki has a good man page for setup.

Just do sudo apt-get install xcompmgr and use the man to configure!

Write yourself an automatic backup script in bash. It'll teach you some shell and you'll have a useful piece of software.
