    Ubuntu 12.10 update problem

Hi, when I do a software update check I get a message telling me not all updates can be installed, the next line says run a partial upgrade to install as many updates as possible, then it list reasons that may cause the problem. At the bottom of the box I get the option to partial upgrade or continue.
I have clicked on both options and each time after a restart I am greeted with just my screen saver no Unity and no desktop. I recovered each time by doing a fresh install of Unbuntu.
Anyone have any idea what is going wrong.

    Thanks Alan

Have you tried running updates without choosing 'partial upgrade'?
Also, are you using any extra PPAs or repositories?

Thanks for repling so fast. Yes, partial upgrade and continue with out partial upgrade give me the same results.
I am set up for updates for my Galaxy Nexus Ubuntu Touch (add-apt-repository ppahablet-team/ppa)

Update. If I untick phablet-team/ppa/ in software/other software, updater works fine.
