11.04 Wireless has stopped working

Hello,

I know very little of the workings of this operating system so please bare with me.

My internet has been functioning fine, never a problem, for a year or so. The other morning, I turned my laptop on to find that the wireless was not working. The icon is gone from the panel and I do not know how to check what the issue could be.

Please, help me Ubuntu Forum, you are my only hope.

Try to start the network-manager from terminal:

Code:

sudo service network-manager restart

or "start". Then you need to type in your password without ******, typing 'blind'

I entered:

then entered password as you said.

the response was:

That response means that it is now running; has the network icon appeared? If not make sure you have the networkmanager applet in your panel. I'm not sure how you do that in unity, if that's what you are running.

You should also be aware that 11.04 is now no longer supported, so you really should update, or clean install, to a newer version of Ubuntu; 12.04-2 recommended.
