Cannot view certain elements in browser

This is what is keeping me from using only Ubuntu as my OS. But until this gets fixed I have to rely on the dark side(OS X) of my computer to use certain web features.

In firefox, certain things do not load, and the same goes for other browsers I have tried, chromium, opera.

For example, while working on calculus on http://www.calcchat.com/book/Calculus-9e/ none of the solutions load and the website is worthless unless I can view those solutions. Is this the same for everyone else? I don't see why I shouldn't be able to load things like this. There are other instances on other websites as well, but this is the most irritating right now.

I have Java and Flash.

Does anything show up in the box? The site seems to be showing solutions to questions asked in a book.

For example, on the page you linked to, it says:
y = - three-halves x + 3
x-intercept: (2, 0)
etc.

Perhaps it's a font issue? Did you install the Restricted Extras, and accept the EULA for the fonts?

Yeah, I have all the MS fonts. the only thing in the box just says `id='

Does this work in your browser? Which browser?


Edit: I figured it out. Using privoxy to block adverstisements blcks the image for some reason.
