Video Hesitation with Intel 945GM on 12.10

I just upgraded from Ubuntu 11.10 to 12.10 on a system with an Intel 945GM graphics. The video driver works reasonably well on 11.10 at 1080P. On 12.10 I see a momentary hesitation/jump every 5 to 10 seconds. There is no artifact it just seems to do a very slight hesitation. I can't really say if it skips frames.

This is a core2 processor, and there is enough idle so that I know its not that CPU is maxed out.

Its using the X-Video extension, and it doesn't seem to matter if I use the overlay driver, or textured video.

Is there anything I can do?

Same problem here, with a 945GM on Ubuntu 12.10, on a Acer laptop with Core Duo processor.

I opened a ticket with Cannonical on this and after some superficial triage they said the 945GM was not supported on 12.10 stick with 12.04.
