VinDSL, I have exactly the same experience.
3.9-Saucy-mainline just will not boot into the DE. However, from tty1 I could downgrade.
And yes, with 3.9-Raring-mainline all is well and fast.

working great here! actually the 3.9-saucy from yesterday worked as well...just had to purge the nvidia drivers and reinstall them. after that all was good.

Just installed 3.9.1-saucy, again.

This time, I didn't take any chances and re-installed nVidia/nVidia-settings 304.88 before doing a cold-boot.

I dunno. In the past, when you installed a kernel, you could see the initial nVidia module being built. At least this way (re-installing nVidia et al) I get some indication of what's going on.
