VinDSL, I have exactly the same experience.
3.9-Saucy-mainline just will not boot into the DE. However, from tty1 I could downgrade.
And yes, with 3.9-Raring-mainline all is well and fast.

Why are you actually upgrading to the most recent kernel anyway?

    Re: 3.9 is here...

    Just installed 3.9.1-saucy, again.

    SOURCE: http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa.../v3.9.1-saucy/

    This time, I didn't take any chances and re-installed nVidia/nVidia-settings 304.88 before doing a cold-boot.

I dunno. In the past, when you installed a kernel, you could see the initial nVidia module being built. At least this way (re-installing nVidia et al) I get some indication of what's going on.

    Re: 3.9 is here...

    Hrm. Interesting!

    Probably unrelated, but...

I lost all of my saved passwords, in Chromium Canary 28 -- wiped the slate clean

    EDIT

Upgraded to Chromium Canary 29, and my saved passwords are back, again.

    Code:
    Version 29.0.1502.0 (199089)
    SOURCE: http://download-chromium.appspot.com/

Isn't life, on the fringe_edge_of_computing, fun?!?!?
