    Re: 3.9 is here...

i would suggest using the current saucy daily image and downgrade the few packages to raring, this can only be done at this current early stage of development as not may thing have been upgraded to saucy
that said what can i look forwarded to in btrf

    Re: 3.9 is here...

Still having sound issues, pqwoerituytrueiwoq has help me before but I just can't place my finger on what is causing it...

Background, I have some intel bugs running 3.8 and running the 3.9 kernel solves it, running the latest mainline kernel 3.9 against a fresh install of raring. Sound works under kernel 3.8 but when I do a cold boot of 3.9, no sound output, however all looks normal. Sound card is detected etc.

here is the odd part, if I load 3.8 and boot to the logon screen sound works, if I reboot and go to the 3.9 kernel sound still works. The only time sound does not work is when coming from a shutdown. Something is not getting loaded but I have looked and looked and can;t figure it out.

I can provide more information, just would like to figure it out any suggestions would be WELCOME!!!

here are 2 files, both of 3.9 but with sound working and the other one not..

UPDATE - pastebinit, very cool, thanks matt_symes

    alsa-info - not working

    alsa-info - working

    dmesg - not working

    dmesg - working

    Thanks.

    Hi

here is the odd part, if I load 3.8 and boot to the logon screen sound works, if I reboot and go to the 3.9 kernel sound still works. The only time sound does not work is when coming from a shutdown. Something is not getting loaded but I have looked and looked and can;t figure it out.
It sounds like kernel 3.8 maybe configuring something that is persisting across warm reboots whereas a cold boot into 3.9 is not configuring that card in the same way.

filedropper ? why not paste bin ?

    Code:
    sudo apt-get install pastebinit
    Code:
    pastebinit /var/log/dmesg
Copy and past the link into your next post. Do this for both working and non working.

I tend never to download things from sites such as file dropper.

    Kind regards

    Re: 3.9 is here...

    are the mainline kernels signed?
[ 0.809068] MODSIGN: Loaded cert 'Magrathea: Glacier signing key: 3e7bc44165f56a6e5452ec334fd93ffb7225456d'
i know this machine does not have a secure boot option so it should not need that, i installed in BIOS mode and switched it to UEFI the other day, so it if had secure boot it would not have let grub boot right?

You probably are ... lots of us are. It's a known issue in the 3.9 kernel (assuming you have a Broadcom).
