updating components of studio audio generation/recording packages
I have recently installed Ubuntu Studio 12.04 LTS on my laptop (wiped Windows completely). After having played around for a few weeks I realize that some of the programs are obviously not running bleeding edge versions. This is fine for the most part, however I can't seem to get the fx in hydrogen to work (at all) - the only "fix" i've been able to weasle out of the folks there is to update to the latest version available, however this cannot be done without presumably removing much more than hydrogen itself through the software center... Is there an obvious way to update to the latest version that I am missing? Forgive me, I am a linux nub, and searching ubuntu (anything) 12.04 LTS + updates in google returns a hundred thousand pages of irrelevent documentation. :/ halp!
Re: updating components of studio audio generation/recording packages
Use synaptic package manager, and tell us what packages it wants to remove beside hydrogen.
As for updating, try to find precompiled packages, or build it yourself from the source.
