    create symlink to NAS

    Ubuntu 12.10.

Every other thread on this seems to be outdated.

I plugged a harddrive into my router. Ubuntu can mount and read/write to it just fine. Perfect.

I can use Gigolo to mount this at bootup.

in any case, I have my folder booting up and I can browse it with Nautilus.

BUT I WANT TO CREATE A SYMLINK to this folder or MOUNT IT IN A SPECIFIED LOCATION.

do not say it's in /home/user/.gvfs - if I go to this directory, terminal or nautilus, it is empty.

so where is my NAS being mounted???

(and why can't I just 'create shortcut' using Nautilus???)

    many thanks in advance.

    Re: create symlink to NAS

after days and days.. would you believe I finally accomplished what I was after as soon as I posted this thread.

I used Nautilus to create the symlink.

I had to open two windows.

Then I dragged the NAS folder, whilst holding control and shift, to where I wanted my link created.

annoying that Nautilus was much more user friendly 5 years ago.
