Question Why is UbuntuForums upgrading vBulletin?

Is there issues with the current forums? It already seems fast, easy to use, etc.

What will be the benefits for us end users as far as version 3 vs v4?

I've been a lurker for years and a member for a long time too and would like to know a bit about what will be changing.

This reason we are upograding, to a new version of vBulletin, is because there are some security issues that can't be solved with the present version, and there are some features we'd like to add, that aren't available in the current version.

Plus we like new and shiny.

Ok the security issues make sense. I'm sure they are pulling support for vb3 as vb5 will soon be launched. I use to spend a lot of time on vb.com and vb.org esp tuning, migrating "big boards".

So I genuinely wish you guys a seamless transition.

You probably would have been drafted to help with the transition.

Dam! I use to be the admin & owner of PinStack (not very active anymore) so would have LOVED that!

From this post it would seem hiding post counts are still an issue being looked into.

The cat's out of the bag already now - from my bean count people will get the wrong impression.

Most of my beans have been derived from my spam chasing days -
