Can Wine share application files used by Windows?

Anyways... I want to use SC2 Wings of Liberty on Wine and am wondering if it's save to use the game I already have loaded on a drive that both my Windows and Linux have access to. Will Wine modify the files in any way, or can I use the same install between the two?

I'm still trying to figure out how to use PlayOnLinux. The "install" thing throws me for a loop... I already have the application installed, I just want to run it!

Because I would prefer to use Linux all the time. And I don't like having to reboot :-\

Thanks for the clarification, I asked because my experience with wine was
    less than positive.
