Quite new to Ubuntu, and not having drivers to install worries me...

So I was surprised when Ubuntu found my printer after I plugged it in, but, it does not find the scanner part.

A search for this shows me that there is no solution, Kodak do not support Linux it seems, so I'm guessing the answer is to get rid of the kodak and try something else... which I am tempted to do, I don't like the kodak anyway

so, is it possible to install the scanner on a kodak printer, or...
which other scanner printer manufacturer model does work on ubuntu?
