It seems like one or more regressions are in play.
Would be good if people could test 13.04 and see if the problem is solved.

If 13.04 is also buggy: A bug report against this one will receive more attention than 12.04 / 12.10.

I'm probably staying away from 13.04. At least 12.04 will be supported for 5 years. 13.04 might not even get the normal 18 months of support:

Of course if anyone does test this against 13.04 it could easily be added to the existing bug report.

As a quick note to any System76 customer experiencing this issue:

We do have a workaround available until an updated kernel is released. Please open a support ticket, and we'll be able to get you the workaround, and let you know when the updated kernel is available.
