    Audio and suspend

    On Xubuntu 12.10:
    can't hear the input of my audio in, though I see it on the sound configuration panel.
    and overall..can't suspend/hybernate: all the times it reboots and then send crash report
    any hints?

    maybe I shoul have made two posts?

    It could be that you have HDMI selected as output instead of the built-in audio. You might even have to disable the HDMI in the Configuration tab if Xubuntu keeps defaulting to it.
    If that's not it, you can experiment with the settings in xfce4-mixer, see if anything is muted.

    Dunno about suspend, will definitely need more hardware info. Did you install proprietary display drivers?

    Well, thanks for the reply!

    Actually I'm using a USB card. but the issue is that I don't see any button/option to enable/disable the audio coming from line-in/mic: I see the levels when audio comes in but can't hear it!

    For suspend..it's an old ATI 9600, with the only supported driver natively loaded..there's any log to post?

    and when I press

    lshw -c display | grep driver

    it stucks displaying "PCI (sysfs)"
