    Making Server into Ubuntu Firewall

    Hey guys,

So I am thinking about working on a project. I was thinking about using iptables/ipchains to create a dedicated firewall for my house. I want to make it so a site I want to launch will not get DDoS'd. I will make it out of a server that I have laying around the house. I was just wondering a couple of things.

    -Has anyone done this?
-Is there a way to have a trust/untrust to protect from DDoS?
-If not, is there a way to protect from DDoS?

When I say DDoS I mean a small DDoS. Not something that would bring a server at Amazon down lol. I do have an old Juniper NetScreen 5 GT but I don't know if that is up to date and I just got it today. Again my main fear is DDoS. I know I can rack servers in a datacenter somewhere for not that much but I want to see if I can do it on my own.

Anything you want to say will help me out tremendously in making my decision on what to use.

    Thanks,
