    Desktop has gone blank

I have installed ubuntu 12.04 LTS on virtualbox(host os Windows 7). It was running fine after installation except that it was 1024X768 instead of 1366X768. But after installing the guest extensions as prompted by the OS itself, it went fullscreen(1366X768). But everything else like the icons and status bar at the top went invisible. They are still there and can be used with guess work.

    Thankyou for your support

    Re: Desktop has gone blank

Were you in seamless mode (Host+L), full screen mode (Host+F), scaled (Host+C), or normal (all modes switched off) when this happened?

In case you don't know what I am talking about, the host key is the key set by you to be the key used to disable mouse integration, etc. and is usually the right Ctrl key if you have not changed it. Host + L means to hold down the right Ctrl key while pressing the lower case L key.

If you were in 'normal' mode, try changing to full-screen mode to see if your controls come back. Your VirtualBox controls will be hiding off the bottom of the screen in full-screen mode, but will show up if your mouse cursor hovers at the bottom of the screen near the center.
