Hey Ubuntu Forums,

I use VLC Media Player to play my music, but whenever I set a global hotkey (Tools>Preferences>Hotkeys) involving the ALT key and a number (I'm using 5, 6, and 7), they don't work. I believe this is because Ubuntu has ALT as a system function, bringing up the "Type your command" overlay or bringing up the File, Edit, View, etc menu on the top hotbar (don't know exactly what this is called). Would there be any way to give VLC priority with ALT+5, ALT+6, and ALT+7?

Thanks much,
