finish win7 installation help external drive with xubuntu

I installed xubuntu first on the external hard drive and then windows seven. My computer is an iMac 8,1 with OSX and windows 7 the bootloader I use to boot all OS's is rEFIt for some reason I get two windows loader icons but the both load the same windows partition on my internal drive..
I was thinking that maybe grub loader on my external drive is messing with me being able to get to the unfinished install on the same external drive. but when i launch grub loader from the rEFIt menu theres no option to launch windows seven from the external drive and if i try launching windows7(internal) i get an error the same thing with mac osx. everything works from the rEFIt menu just not grub.

Generally speaking, life is a lot simpler when you install Windows, then install Ubuntu.

I'm not an Apple person. Did you set up the computer to boot from the external drive?

no the computer boots from the internal drive on the mac partition
