Can't boot to ubuntu on iMac G4

Hi! I installed ubuntu 12 for PPC and can't get to the actual boot stage. See image for what happens when the GUI kicks in.

Just a few simple questions:

1) How can I boot to terminal to fix this assumed driver issue?
2) Is this s driver issue or do I need to do something else?
3) How can I modify of mount the aprtition when in debug mode since I cannot seem to change much.

Thank you for your reply!

Just so I can confirm - do I boot from the ubuntu PPC install that I have or from another livecd? I assumed that the ubuntu live cd for i386 would not work. I have tried it anyway ans the cd does not boot.

Hi There - i have tried installing the mint PPC dist and have had similar issues with the display. I assume it's something with the drivers since when I install Tiger it's fine.

I download the PPC live CD and it has the same problem when the GUI starts up. There is something that is stopping me see anything. I have installed Tiger OSX and it runs fine. Since no-one lese seems to have this problem I suspect it might be some type of hardware fault?
