Advice to build a simple package for submission to my PPA

I have an application that I would like to place in my ppa but find myself overwhelmed with docs and guides none of whom really telling me how to do this. I am finding the help pages within launchpad itself to be particularly vague on details.

*I completed the official getting setup guide.
*I have created ~/ppasrc/myapp-1.0 and under it.
*I have placed the various files in the correct dirtrees under ~/ppasrc/myapp-1.0 as the root.

My app is bash-based and does not need to be compiled. I don't want to use brz for version control. Where do I go from here?
