Adding an new menu and disabling window menu in Mate Desktop?

    Hi guys,

I've recently found out about Mate Desktop and installed it onto my ubuntu 12.04 system. I really like it but there are two things that are annoying me:

The Window Menu button which is the silver button on the right hand side:

And that the shutdown/logout/lockscreen options are in the "System" menu drop down.

    My question is:

How do I disable the Window Menu icon and add another menu entry which has the shutdown/logout/lockscreen options in it?

    Thanks.

NB: I'm using Mate Desktop Environment 1.4.2 on Ubuntu 12.04 x86_64 if that helps?
