Cool Ubuntu LiveCD gets stuck loading files

    Hi,

Somebody help me! None of my Linux LiveCDs work anymore. I had a Debian system installed on my custom desktop alone with Win8. Now, whenever I try an Ubuntu-based LiveCD ( I tried Ubuntu 12.10 for amd64, Lubunt for i386, Mint 14.1 for amd64 ) as well as the USB flash versions of these installers.

The problem occurs after selecting "Install <distro>" menu and Ubuntu goes into this "loading" phase where all you see are dots flashing to indicate load status. After a few minutes of loading, the dots hang and the system becomes unresponsive. This happened to me on all of Ubuntu, Lubuntu and Mint 14.1 LiveCDs and USBs. I'm thinking something might be wrong with my hard drive. Any ideas?

    ???
