    Re: Busy testing week ahead

Ringtail 3.8.0-5 here, updated as of yesterday. Slowed down and stopped only thing that worked was power off. Booted O.K. a little slow, did today's update and running O.K. Nothing in /var/log/crash.

Usual problems with wireless WPA encryption automatically disconnects on boot. Manual connect required every time. LTS automatically connects as it should....launchpad bug written weeks ago, it's a problem with NM scripts changed since LTS. My guess, none of the NM people are looking at Launchpad. Occurs on netbook and notebook. My tower is wired.

Also running LTS. I zsync'd 12.04 daily live current this month, plus daily apt-get updates. They say 12.04.2 running fine on netbook, notebook, tpwer.

ubuntu online accounts seems to be mostly broken in raring: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+s...y/+bug/1116449

The only accounts that actually work are facebook google twitter and windows live
    Desktop: Windows 8 x64 | Intel Core i5-2500 | 16 GB DDR3 1333 | ATI 6950 2gb | 64gb Vertex 2/320gb/750gb/1tb hdd

I guess I should more clearly state my reasoning behind posting notices like this

I've truly found that getting the QA tag added to a bug report is always beneficial. That doesn't mean there's a guarantee that a bug will be fixed, but it does at least get the bug on the radar so-to-speak

The best thing is to subscribe to the tests you're truly willing to perform at the QA Tracker, then you'll get a notification when the milestone images are ready to test.

But "Cadence Testing" changed things. Since there are no actual "alpha" images for most flavors you just have to depend on mailing lists and the posted schedule.

Right now I'm much more concerned with 12.04.2 than I am with Raring because Lucid (desktop version) will soon reach EOL, so we'll have a lot more users upgrading to Precise

Good luck on them fixing that with it affecting 2 people. They are not even going to fix the read only file system in recovery.

That is a very sad bug

    Supposedly it's maintained:

    https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/friendly-recovery

But you'll notice there are 28 "new" bugs.

Exclamation Re: Busy testing week ahead

BTW, the Ubuntu Quality Assurance team will have quite a few sessions about submitting test results and ISO tests and such.

11th February, 2013 (Monday) 18:00-19:00 UTC Nicholas Skaggs (balloons) will be at #ubuntu-quality on irc.freenode.net and also on Ubuntu on Air! to demonstrate the process of going through the testcases.

13th February, 2013 (Wednesday) 13:00-15:00 UTC Howard Chan (smartboyhw, aka me) will be at #ubuntu-classroom and #ubuntu-classroom-chat on irc.freenode.net to host the finale of a series of QA Team Classroom sessions. It will be about ISO testing, and I will demonstrate how to test the 12.04.2 and the 13.04 Alpha 2 images. Nicholas, Phill Whiteside (phillw) and others will also be on #ubuntu-classroom-chat to answer questions from the community.

14th February, 2013 (Thursday) Ubuntu 12.04.2 and Kubuntu/Edubuntu 13.04 Alpha 2 release day 14:00-15:00 UTC Nicholas will be at #ubuntu-quality to help everybody submit their test results up to the QA Trackers. Everyone try to be at the Ubuntu QA Team IRC channels on that time, since final testing of 12.04.2 and 13.04 Alpha 2 should be on that time.

(I remember testing 12.04.1 alternates for Xubuntu at 14:00-15:00 UTC on release day so that it can be released)

Just a friendly reminder: Lubuntu will not be participating in 12.04.2 LTS since Lubuntu is not supporting LTS releases. Only Edubuntu/Kubuntu will be having 13.04 Alpha 2 releases.

Have a great time testing, a happy Chinese New Year of the Snake and a happy Valentine's day on 12.04.2 and 13.04 Alpha 2 release day!!!!!!

As the Ubuntu Studio release manager and a Kubuntu developer, I do a lot of ISO testing and packaging.
    Make Ubuntu 13.10 awesome~!

I get bugs that aren't in the prescribed QA tests, write launchpad bugs, which aren't looked at by the relevant developer(s). How do you put a QA tag on bugs that aren't in the prescribed list?

    Thanks, Jerry

If it regards a faulty app the basic live session testcase includes:

Use and execute the default apps .....
All apps should function without error
So, just as an example, I use abiword which is a default app in Xubuntu so I can test the 12.04.2 Xubuntu live image to record these:

    https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+s...d/+bug/1019621

    https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+s...rd/+bug/960089

If it involves 'ubiquity' that's a problem I think we need to talk to Nicholas about because the installer does now offer options that are not adequately included in the testcases:

Ouch 28 bugs and this is an LTS. I hope that part definitely gets fixed.

The "28 new bugs" effect more than just Precise, but it's aggravating when a bug like that persists

Given the fact that the package name is 'friendly-recovery' they should at least consider a name change
