Question Open Xorg driver for ATI graphics does not turn on light on resume

Please! I really need a resolution to this problem. I am running a laptop with recent ATI graphics on 12.10 and whenever I close and reopen the laptop the system resumes but the light does not come on in the display, so I cannot see anything. The only resolutions I have right now are:
    1. Use the proprietary fglrx driver, which for some reason limits the maximum virtual display to 1600x1600.
    2. reboot

    I need a better solution.

Is there any command I can give to make the light turn on in the display?

i know what you mean, i also have an extremely annoying ati card. i used to have that problem a lot with 11.04 and 10.10 as i remember. sorry can't give much advice, but im in a different pickle related to my radeon card and all i can think of is "never again ATI"
