Ok .. it seamlessly upgraded from Quantal to Raring and that horrible "sparse error" is now gone and only 'Scanning for Btrfs...'

And now for rollback to Quantal !

Mount the btrfs filesystem to another location:

    root@ventrical-PY028AA-ABA-A1106N:~# mount /dev/sda1 /mnt
    root@ventrical-PY028AA-ABA-A1106N:~# ls -l /mnt/
    total 0
    drwxr-xr-x 1 root root 230 Feb 11 20:22 @
    drwxr-xr-x 1 root root 208 Feb 11 18:06 @apt-snapshot-2013-02-11_19:14:23
    drwxr-xr-x 1 root root 18 Feb 11 17:57 @home

Re: btrfs makes old hdds appear to operate faster

In order to make it boot we have to rename the snapshot:

    root@ventrical-PY028AA-ABA-A1106N:~# mv /mnt/@ /mnt/@_badroot
    root@ventrical-PY028AA-ABA-A1106N:~# mv /mnt/@apt-snapshot-2013-02-11_19:14:23 /mnt/@
    root@ventrical-PY028AA-ABA-A1106N:~#

and then .. reboot!! Here goes...

    Great stuff ventrical.
It is a machine. It is more stupid than we are. It will not stop us from doing stupid things.

    Great stuff ventrical.
I had to use it to flash a BIOS.

As for Btrfs and Rolling back from one distro to another?.. does not look good. I learned my lesson.

However, if one is using Btrfs for rolling back to a previous state(somewhat like Windows System Restore) then it is an excellent file system and the apt-btrfs-snapshot is an excellent tool to use. It would save a lot of time with backups.

Thanks for taking one for the team, I've been wondering if this would actually work!
