    Question Stop terminal from "live-updating"?

    Hi guys.

I'm wondering, is it possible somehow to stop the terminal from live updating? By this I mean that for instance when I'm running a bzr commit with a lot of files, it's impossible to scroll in the terminal, as I'm constantly thrown to the bottom for each increment of the update.

Is it possible to disable this feature?

There must be a way. If you pipe the output through Less, does this work well enough?
I try to treat the cause, not the symptom. I avoid the terminal in instructions, unless it's easier or necessary. My instructions will work within the Ubuntu system, instead of breaking or subverting it. Those are the three guarantees to the helpee.

The Xfce terminal can do that (and you can install it in any desktop environment), install the "xfce4-terminal" package.

    If it's gnome-terminal:
menu Edit / Profile Preferences, go to the Scrolling tab and un-check Scroll on output.
