When I click a link in Firefox that leads to a file, the MIME type of the file seems to be read to determine which application is more suitable to open the file.
Occasionally servers send out wrong mime type and Firefox defaults to the text editor, without making any further attempts to identify the file type. So I have to change the path to the correct application every single time (even if I try to open the exact same file again).
My question is: Is it possible to make Firefox use some more sophisticated way to determine the filetype - e g check the file extension as fallback?
It's usually regular PDF files, so it's no super special filetypes or something. When I choose to download the file and open it in gnome, it works just fine...
Not really related to Ubuntu specifically, but I didn't know where else to put it.
