How do I change a default character in Libre Office Writer?

I imported Times New Roman into Ubuntu, but the apostrophe being used -
    It's been ages”

I want to change to -
    It’s been ages”

Using the in-document find and replace will only do it for existing cases. Is there a way to default the preferred apostrophe character?

Tools > AutoCorrect Options > Localized Options
    Tick ‘replace’ for single quotes.

    Hope that works.

No sorry, it didn't. Though it seemed like that was the right place to go, but not into Localized Options, just into Replace, so I could replace the incorrect apostrophe with the correct apostrophe - that made sense, except it didn't work. It's not the double quotes I want to change to single quotes - sorry, I should have left them out of the original post - just the apostrophe from a ' to a proper times new roman apostrophe to make it consistent with the rest of the document.

I guess I was thinking it could be done via the font pack itself.

My sincerest apologies! It does work! I really didn't have a proper go at your suggestion.
I would add to your explanation though:

    > Tick ‘replace’ for single quotes. > click on the small box under 'Start quote' next to 'default' and pick the specific apostrophy symbol from the selection, do the same for 'End quote' and then click the 'Default' at the bottom > OK.

A very belated and apologetic 'thank you' for your help.

PS: There's no 'Edit Post' on my original post, and there's no 'Prefix' box to mark this thread as solved in mhy advanced editing box (as I do this edit).
