[12.04] Wireless is not working, Broadcom BCM4313

    Hello.

My Wireless conection is not working correctly. It was working before some bulk update I've made but now it keeps trying to connect but always says "Wireless network Disconnected" after a while.

I'm on a Dell Inspiron 15R notebook with Ubuntu 12.04 in dualboot with windows 7.

Wireless is working as expected on Windows.

Can someone give me a help?

    EDIT:

I've updated Ubuntu to 12.10. The problem remains.

You'll need to supply some information about your wireless card so people can help you. One way to find out the exact type is to do this in a terminal

    Code:
    sudo lshw -c network
    Post the output here.

This is the relevant bit for your wireless

    Code:
    *-network
           description: Wireless interface
product: BCM4313 802.11b/g/n Wireless LAN Controller

           bus info: pci@0000:12:00.0
           logical name: eth1
           version: 01
           serial: c4:46:19:a9:15:c2
           width: 64 bits
           clock: 33MHz
capabilities: pm msi pciexpress bus_master cap_list ethernet physical wireless
           configuration: broadcast=yes driver=wl0 driverversion=6.20.155.1 (r326264) latency=0 multicast=yes wireless=IEEE 802.11abg

If you don't get any answers here, you might like to search the forums with
    Code:

as a search criteria. There are lots of threads on it.

I don't know all that much about it, and I'm pressed for time right now, so I don't want to offer any half-baked advice. I might be able to look into the matter a bit later on or tomorrow.

Re: [12.04] Wireless is not working

I've searched these keywords here and didn't and nothing worked. I'm afraid that my Ubuntu installation might have to much garbage due to so many tries to fix this =/

Is there a way to know which driver/module I'm using or how to remove everything and start from scratch?

Yes, there is, but I'm not that sure about how to do it. What I would probably do is go to the additional drivers utility. That is a tab in the software centre on 12.10, I believe. It is in the software centre somewhere. In there, you should be able to see what the utility thinks is in use, and deactivate it. You could try doing that, and maybe re-installing it. I really don't know if that will help or not, but I think it can't hurt.

I hope someone else looks in here who knows a bit more about this.

One thing, though. I'm almost certain you should be able to fix this without having to re-install.

Re: [12.04] Wireless is not working

I have looked at the "Additional Drivers" utility. There is indeed a driver for the wireless device but, apparently, activating or deactivating it doesn't seem to make any difference.
