Philips SPC520NC Webcam does not work

I've tried to plug in a Philips SPC520NC Webcam on a newly installed Ubuntu 12.10 (Dell Latitude D620), but it doesn't work.

No lights show up, it's not detected under Additional Drivers, and Cheese does not detect any webcam.

Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks.

    Hi Jackyboy,

Actually, this is probably going to sound weird, but after I did a restart I was able to get my webcam to be detected. It is known as Philips (or NXP) SPC 520/525NC PC Camera, and I can see myself move fine on Cheese. I can also take photos.

However, when I try to record video on Cheese, it crashes.
