I have a problem installing activestate python instead of the default. How can I fix

I am getting this error when trying to run the ./install.sh for ActivePython. How can I correct this?
This is what I am running right now:

why are you trying to install activestate python, python is already installed on your system and most everything you need is in the repos.

aside from installing python exactly what are you trying to do?

Trying to install OSQA on ubuntu. Looking for very easy to follow instructions.
