10.10 and 12.10 have been favorite Ubuntu releases and I started with 9.10. 12.10 runs like a dream on my hardware and that includes Unity the Gnome Shell and XFCE Session. I enjoy learning about and using different desktops environments and being ridged about features of function doesn't help me to do that.

It is certainly acceptable not to like something after trying it out but the software on my computer didn't get there on it's own so I can't say anything was forced on me. Many people who work with computers often only use a few company provided applications during the course of the day and not the entire operating system so their home computer use can be vastly different from work.
